President Trump appointed Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry as a special envoy to Greenland. Landry stated he will remain Louisiana's governor, as the envoy role is a volunteer position. The appointment has drawn criticism from Denmark, which has repeatedly said Greenland is not for sale.

The lack of interest in using the new law is the latest indication that Louisiana’s insurance crisis has, for the most part, remained stubbornly unchanged more than four years after Hurricane Ida sent the market into turmoil.
