Miami Dolphins provide future update on Tua Tagovailoa amid speculation over a potential fit with the Minnesota Vikings.
Tua Tagovailoa could be the NFL’s next quarterback reclamation project. Now that he’s been benched by the Dolphins, Tagovailoa’s future in Miami is uncertain. The Dolphins (6-8) will take a look at rookie seventh-round pick Quinn Ewers over the final three games. They haven’t won a playoff game since January 2001, the longest drought in the NFL.
Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals will mark a new era in Miami Dolphins football as rookie 7th round draft pick Quinn Ewers will get the start for the team, and in doing so, will get to audition for an opportunity to be the team’s starting quarterback in 2026.
Also notable in the early window is the NFL debut of rookie Quinn Ewers, starting in place of Tua Tagovailoa, who was benched after a dreadful Week 15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in primetime. Ewers, a seventh-round pick out of Texas, threw for 9,128 yards, 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions over 36 games with the Longhorns.
Tua Tagovailoa’s Dolphins future sparks debate as Browns, Steelers and Jets weigh risky quarterback options in a pivotal offseason.
