Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said on Tuesday he was "sad" about U.S. President Donald Trump's renewed expression of interest in acquiring the Arctic territory.
Trump said the US needs Greenland for ‘national protection’, adding: ‘We have to have it.’ This has unsurprisingly angered leaders of the country, with Copenhagen set to call their US ambassador for ‘an explanation’. It is no secret Trump has been looking to take over the mineral-rich land due to its strategic location.
