NEW YORK (WABC) -- A major snow storm is enveloping the Tri-State area, with the worst expected to strike between Friday evening and early Saturday, with parts of the area on track to receive around a foot of snow if the heaviest bands deliver on their potential.
At least 1,500 flights have been cancelled or delayed across northeast US as a powerful winter storm disrupts one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
Heavier snowfall has been reported in Upstate New York, with 9.2 inches in Poughkeepsie and 10 in Pine Plains. For numerous counties, Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a disaster emergency due to "imminent danger to public transportation, utility services, public health, and public safety systems."
