一般认为爵是可以用来温酒的饮酒器。青铜爵始见于二里头文化,盛行于商代,一直沿用到西周中期。爵在祭祀中用于歆和祼。以香气享神曰“歆”,加热后,爵内鬯酒的蒸汽香味浓烈,鬼神乐于享用。在祭祀中,爵内鬯酒通过前端的流浇灌到地上称为“祼”。
