In 1997, Yankees pitcher David Wells started a game against the Cleveland Indians wearing Babe Ruth’s autographed cap from 1934. Manager Joe Torre had him remove it after the first inning for uniform compliance. Without the cap, Wells blew a 3-0 lead, and the Indians won 12-8.
