Among the largest lizards found throughout the Americas, green iguanas like this male can weigh up to 11 pounds and average 6.5 feet in length! Their stout build may make them look somewhat comical and clumsy, but they are incredibly fast and agile both on land and in the water. While iguanas spend most of their time on land or up in trees, they will take to the water when threatened, sometimes leaping from extraordinary heights, in order to escape a potential predator.
